Alongside diving into writing fiction, Puja works in international development and policy analysis. Her work has taken her across continents, engaging with governments, institutions, and communities navigating complex political realities. These experiences give her first-hand insight into the human stories behind global events and stories that inform the emotional and geopolitical depth of her fiction.

Puja’s global perspective began long before her career in international development. Growing up in Kuwait, she traveled widely with her parents, experiencing different cultures and places from an early age. That early exposure sparked a lifelong curiosity about the world, a travel bug that later went into overdrive through her work in international development. Through both her professional work and personal travels across 69 countries, Puja developed the global lens that shapes her storytelling. The cities, landscapes, and cultural contexts in her novels are grounded in firsthand experiences. Rather than serving as backdrops, these settings and cultural influences play a key role in how her characters view the world, along with the risks they take and the choices they face.
